The Independent Living Centre WA (ILC) supports all individuals, including people with disability, those who are aging, their families and carers, to live full and independent lives through the provision of allied health and assistive technology solutions.
The AT Chat Australia project objective is to build a national peer mentoring model through a co-design process, underpinned by evidence based research and design thinking. It will build on the successful co-designed peer-to-peer led assistive technology (AT) social media platform ATChatwithus. The Project is funded by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) until mid-2020. It focuses on building the capacity of an individual to make decisions and choices around AT choice and control.
We are seeking an innovative Occupational Therapist to support the exciting development and implementation of a national AT peer mentoring service. The Occupational Therapist is part of the research and development team working in partnership with a researcher to build the AT Mentor role, and ensure quality and safeguards are in place to pilot an AT Mentoring model. The primary focus of this role is to “facilitate and enable” to build an individual’s capacity to make decisions around AT solutions through supporting the recruitment, training and supervision of AT Mentors. The position will work closely with the Project Manager AT Chat as part of the AT Chat leadership team and will have a service lead role.
The position will need to uphold the existing co-design AT Chat principles, strategy and voice. The role will be directly involved in a formal research project through a partnership with a well-established researcher in capacity building for AT decision making and support. The position will be an integral part of the team using co-design process, embed design thinking and provide a point of integration for ILC service transformation as required. This role will also support the deliverables within the AT Chat Australia project service framework and service delivery model.
Our organisation is constantly evolving and this position provides an exciting opportunity to anyone considering joining our friendly and professional team.
