Noah’s Ark members benefit from donations

The Noah’s Ark Toy Library and Resource Centre, located in Morley, was fortunate to receive a number of donations and grants recently, all which contribute to an improved service for the families, children, therapists and education professionals who use the library.

NA_Lotterywest_Grant_1A Lotterywest cheque for $99,435 was presented to ILC and Noah’s Ark staff by Mr Ian Britza MLA, Member for Morley, in September (pictured left with ILC Executive Director Gerri Clay). The grant will assist with funding a much needed Information and Communication Technology upgrade.

ILC Executive Director Gerri Clay said the grant would greatly benefit toy library members.

“The funds will be used to improve the online borrowing system so toy library members, including those in country areas, will to be able to view, book and order toys and resources online. The grant will also enable other essential system upgrades to be undertaken,” said Ms Clay.

The Madeley and Morley Specsavers stores also recently donated $1,900 to Noah’s Ark as a result of an in-store donation program where customers donate 50 cents per frame to either a nominated local charity, such as Noah’s Ark, or a designated national charity.

Another donation to the Toy Library was in the form of Christmas in July gifts thanks to students and families from Hillcrest Primary School. The donations enabled the library to start a small book loans section within the service thanks to the many books that were donated.

Noah’s Ark Toy Library and Resource Centre is a specialist service for children with disabilities and additional needs that provides resources and information to help families and agencies promote children’s development through play.

Donations help to contribute to the service and to support children with disabilities and developmental delays to meet their full potential. Noah’s Ark is also fortunate to have a number of volunteers who donate their time to the service.

Noah’s Ark thanks Lotterywest, Specsavers Madeley and Morley and Hillcrest Primary School for their generous donations. Noah’s Ark also appreciates the support and generous service provided by its volunteers.
