Independent at Home
Our occupational therapists work with people of all ages who have a goal to increase their independence including those undertaking rehabilitation after an injury or illness, people with disabilities and individuals seeking to maintain their independence for as long as possible. Some tasks you may want assistance with include, but are not limited to, cooking your own meal, connecting with others via the phone or internet, bathing, dressing, cleaning and gardening. Assistive equipment and technology is often an important component for overcoming barriers to achieving independence. Our occupational therapists can provide an assessment in your home and follow up with equipment recommendations and associated occupational therapy to help you to reach your goals.
It can be a big project to modify your home to make it more accessible for you and/or your family members. Thankfully, our occupational therapists in Perth and other areas of WA have specialised training in home modifications to help you with this process. Some of these services include an assessment of your needs and current home, researching possible equipment and modification options, sourcing contractors, liaising with builders and tradespeople and supporting you to successfully manage your home modifications through to their completion.
