The Independent Living Centre WA (ILC) is pleased to be appointed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to offer clinical advice for participants and the NDIA for identified assistive technology (AT) assessments.
In this role our experienced health professionals will review identified AT assessments and identify any concerns with the recommendation(s) such as:
- non-compliance with relevant standards;
- atypical recommendation for this NDIS participant cohort and/or context; and/or
- inappropriately specified AT (user weight, environmental suitability etc.).
Our health professionals will also provide any advice that may support the NDIS decision-making process.
Please note the assistive technology application process has not changed and applications should be submitted to ReportsWA@ndis.gov.au as per the usual process.
Participants or therapists with queries about the status of their assistive technology applications can call 9235 7200 and ask for the assistive technology team, or email Midland@ndis.gov.au with the subject line “assistive technology query”.
The ILC has been the leading centre of excellence for information, advice and expertise about the best assistive technology and equipment options available for people for 40 years. As an organisation we are well experienced to provide this service and are very pleased to be appointed by the NDIA to deliver it.
