The Independent Living Centre travelled to the Great Southern in November 2015 to attend the Albany Show. The Albany Show is the largest agricultural show in the Great Southern region. The show attracts many visitors over the two days. The event showcases latest innovations in farming and agriculture but also plays host to many local business and service providers relevant to the broader community. The Independent Living Centre is now a regular attender of the show with our mobile display unit. Lots of people stop by the display and receive advice on assistive technology and the services provided by the Independent Living Centre
We were fortunate that we had a very special visitor to the display as Prince Charles and Camilla the Duchess of Cornwallwere in attendance. Rob our driver was fortunate to shake hands with the prince and gave him some advice about wearing a hat in the sun!
We also met Eric and Raylee Rose. Eric is the designer and the manufacturer of the some of our long handled gardening tools and we were lucky enough to get invited to his home where he showed us the manufacturing process which takes place in his garden shed.
Raylee was busy at the show spinning some tunes as a DJ.
We had lots of enquires at the show and also spent some time at Albany Hospital supporting our health professional colleagues with their equipment requests.
The ILC enjoys having the opportunity to attend these community events and look forward to planning for November 2016
