ILC Tech
Service description
ILC Tech delivers information and training on assistive learning technology, environmental controls, specialised computer access, and augmentative and alternative communication equipment for people of all ages.
The ILC Tech team consists of Occupational Therapists, a Speech Pathologist and a Teacher / Education Technology specialist. Consultation can be done by phone, by email, by appointment in person or by videoconference. The purpose of ILC Tech is to assist people in being aware of the range of assistive equipment available with suitable features to meet their needs. Using the ILC Tech services enhances the users knowledge and confidence in selecting their best options.

The range of equipment available to trial include:
- Alternative keyboards (large and small) and key guards
- Switches and switch interfaces
- Adaptive software
- Screen reading software
- Word prediction software
- Voice access software
- Language and literacy tools
- Low-tech communication options
- High-tech voice output devices
- Remote control environmental systems, and
- More items on request
Who we can help (eligibility)
This service is for all people who have a disability or learning difficulty, older persons, carers and service providers.
Appointments need to be made and service users need to be aware that there may be a waiting period of up to three weeks.
Fees
For people who are eligible under criteria set down by funding bodies this service is free. However, there will be a fee charged for education sessions and workshops provided to organisations. Further information can be provided by ILC Tech staff.

Funding for this service area is supported by the Disability Services Commission (DSC).
