Last month saw the opening of our new ILC Cockburn centre. Featuring a Smart Home display, people can also see, trial and experience smart home technology and a range of assistive equipment in an apartment style living environment.
ILC Cockburn features the Fibaro Home Automation System. Fibaro uses wireless Z-wave technology to create a network of appliances in the home. These appliances can then be controlled by a personal device such as a smartphone and tablet computer. ILC Cockburn displays the Fibaro app on an iPad to control the lights, blinds, TV and an IP camera within the centre. Each appliance can be controlled individually or through a scene such as “leaving home” when pressing one button on the iPad can turn all the appliances off saving time and energy.
The ILC has developed a help sheet on Smart Home Automation to help explain its features and factors to consider, view the document here
ILC Cockburn offers free information and advice on a range of equipment on a drop by basis between 9.00am and 4.00pm, Tuesday to Friday. Alternatively you can book an appointment with an ILC Tech Occupational Therapist to explore the range of smart home automation and environmental control products in more detail.
