The ILC embraces a learning culture and as part of this RAS assessors participate in a range of opportunities to assist in improving their wellness assessments for people in the community.

The focus of the wellness assessment is to identify people’s strengths and areas where they may require assistance to improve or maintain their level of functioning so they are able to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. The wellness assessment also includes a review of the carer’s needs.

The Certificate lV in Dementia Practice achieved by Iris is an accredited program in dementia care exclusive to Alzheimer’s Australia which provides participants with the ability to integrate current knowledge and apply enhanced skills for effective dementia care.

As a Dementia Champion, Iris is a dementia care expert within the ILC and is committed to promoting quality of life and wellbeing of people with dementia; and partnerships between the person, the care provider and the family.
