ILC Carelink to cease but carer services continue

CRCC changesFollowing the range of aged care reforms being implemented by the Australian Government, the ILC North Metro Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre (CRCC) will no longer be required to provide information on aged and community care services to the general public or service providers as of 1 July 2014. The CRCC will however continue to provide a link to carer support services and assist carers to access short-term and emergency respite.

The Australian Government is implementing a range of aged care reforms in response to the growing population of older people and the challenges facing the current aged care system. As part of the aged care reforms, the My Aged Care website and national contact centre are now responsible for the provision of aged care information.

As such, the Commonwealth Carelink Programme will cease on 30 June 2014 and ILC’s North Metro Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre (CRCC) will no longer be required to provide information on aged and community care services to the general public or service providers.

From 1 July 2014 information about aged care support and services can be obtained by visiting www.myagedcare.gov.au or phoning the national contact centre on 1800 200 422.

Whilst the Carelink programme is ceasing, the ILC will continue to provide a link to carer support services and assist carers to access short-term and emergency respite.

The North Metro CRCC respite programs available include Respite for Carers of:

  • People who are Frail Aged
  • People who have a mental health
  • People with a severe and profound disability
  • Young Carers

It is important that carers make time for themselves for their own health and wellbeing. Taking a break can make the caring role a lot easier.

ILC’s CRCC will continue to maintain a database of respite availability and respite information.

Continue to call us on 1800 052 222 between 8.30am – 4.30pm and 1800 059 059 for emergency respite support outside of business hours.
